This work is a graphic score situated in the tradition of composer Cornelius Cardew that is looking for strategies for musical invention. The score is made of photographies from a bandstand in Springfield park (London) where teenagers have carved on the wood their desires, secret messages, happiness, hopes and anger. Waiting for Dawn uses these disobedient gestures from an abandoned bandstand to transform the musical stage in a playground where musical improvisers are invited, through a series of games and instructions, to explore beyond their musical habits.
Performers are Dan Scott, Richard Thomas, Adam Bohman, Chandra Chapman, Jonathan Bohman and Artur Vidal.
Piece created during a Portfolio Scheme organised by Sound and Music.
